Breeders Cup betting lines have reached the midway point of the 2011 football season. With two teams still winless and one team still undefeated, the power rankings in most scenarios shouldn’t have moved that much. However, in the NFL, the 2011 power rankings have moved quite a bit, thanks to a couple of major setbacks for certain teams this weekend. Here is a bookie software glance at the updated standings entering week nine. Green Bay Packers – Despite being in a bye this week, the defending Super Bowl Champions are still the top dog of the power rankings. Having yet to lose, Green Bay appears better then last season’s squad that won the Super Bowl. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has looked like a man on a mission at times this season, as he has torched opponents almost regularly for over 300 passing yards. Pittsburgh Steelers – The Steelers were the beneficiaries of a huge upset victory on the weekend against the New England Patriots. At six wins and two losses, the Steelers are quickly coming into their own as they look to prove that last year’s improbable run to the Super Bowl was no fluke. Their 25 – 19 victory over the Patriots this weekend, showed what a team could do when they expose the New England secondary. San Francisco 49ers – After one of the most disastrous seasons in franchise history, the 49ers under new Head Coach Jim Harbaugh have rebounded nicely in the first half of the regular season. At six wins and one loss, the 49ers are second on many people’s power rankings to the undefeated Packers. That being the case, we put them third, because we aren’t certain if Harbaugh can work miracles, and turn Alex Smith into the Pro Bowl quarterback he currently appears to be in San Francisco. |
